People on social media in Germany laughed due to a funny traffic misunderstanding.
Traffic news doesn't always have to be negative. This remarkable event from Germany proves this.
After all, a couple of days ago, an unusual flash photo from North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany surprised people on social media.
An 82-year-old woman was flashed with her walker at 42 kilometers per hour in a residential area where the maximum speed limit is 30 kilometers per hour. How on earth could this elderly lady reach such a speed with her walker in a 30kph zone? In Germany, the photo and anecdote were met with countless funny reactions.
The photo shows the 82-year-old lady walking with her walker, while the device indicates a speed normally achieved only by bicycles or cars. Something clearly went wrong.
The police emphasize via Facebook that it's most likely a technical error. After all, a walker cannot possibly reach such speeds. Possibly the camera mistakenly detected another vehicle or there was a software malfunction.
The image was shared widely, followed mostly by jokes with comments varying from "the fastest grandmother in Germany" to "turbo-rollator" and "new senior sports record." Neighbors reacted with surprise, but also saw the humor in the unusual situation. After all, the woman photographed is well known in the neighborhood for quietly walking around the block every day. Meanwhile, police are investigating the exact circumstances of the bizarre speed recording.
The lady in question should not expect a fine. Nor does she run the risk of losing her driver's license. Meanwhile, she did go viral and at the very least is a "local legend" due of the incident.
