A family from Brussels was seriously injured in a parasailing accident in Les Lecques Bay near Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer, France, according to Belgian media reports.
The accident occurred when the cable connecting them to the boat snapped: father Greg and daughter Alix crashed hard onto the beach after hitting various obstacles. Both are still in the hospital in Marseille—Alix with multiple spinal fractures and a head injury, and Greg following successful surgery for multiple fractures: both wrists, forearms, a thigh bone, and a kneecap.
The family is cautiously optimistic about their recovery and is now looking for witnesses who may have photos or videos that could help determine how the rope broke.
The French gendarmerie is still investigating the accident.
