U.S. President Donald Trump celebrates his 80th birthday on Sunday, June 14. He received congratulations from all over the world, including from an unexpected source.
Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke briefly with U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday, according to reports from news agencies citing the Kremlin. Putin called Trump to congratulate him on his birthday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also called his American counterpart on Sunday to mark his 80th birthday. The Ukrainian presidency announced this. During the conversation, they also discussed the war in Ukraine, which has been ongoing for more than four years. "The conversation was very rich (...) ranging from birthday wishes to diplomacy, war, and peace," said presidential adviser Dmytro Lytvyn. According to him, the conversation lasted about thirty minutes.
Meanwhile, the war that Russia started by attacking Ukraine continues. On Sunday, for example, a Russian drone targeted a vehicle carrying elderly Ukrainians near Zaporizhzhia, in southeastern Ukraine. A 73-year-old woman was killed in this Russian drone attack. Four others were injured. Governor Ivan Fedorov reported this on Telegram.
In turn, Ukrainian forces caused a major fire at a chemical plant in Russia with drone strikes during the night from Saturday to Sunday. In this series of drone strikes, industrial sites were once again the target, with the aim of disrupting the Russian war economy. The attacks took place mainly in the Tula region, south of Moscow, and the Yaroslavl region, northeast of the capital. According to Tula Governor Dmitry Milyaev, debris from a drone fell on the site of a chemical plant in Novomoskovsk.
Ukraine has been resisting the Russian invasion for more than four years.
