Five people were killed on Monday afternoon in a shooting in Stade, Lower Saxony, Germany, not far from Hamburg. According to German media reports, several others were also injured.
The shots were fired near a youth center. German police reported that two people were arrested, including one believed to be the shooter. The police warned the public to avoid the area, but said there was no danger to nearby residents. Police responded in large numbers, and two police helicopters circled above the city.
The shots were fired around 1:45 p.m. on Monday afternoon. The identities of the victims are not yet known. According to the Reuters news agency, all of the victims are adults.
Stade is a city of 50,000 residents in the German state of Lower Saxony, in northern Germany, and is located west of Hamburg.
